The year 2010 is knocking to end its time, only left with few thoughts to look back; what happened during this period in human progress and development. It was full of achievements for some, with lot of contributions for some, success, achievements, progress, benefit and for some it was not so. But there are few instances which left the impression on time.
It showed us some very bitter instances of corruption. Most prominent on account of money and impact were 2G spectrum scam, Adarsh Society scam and common wealth games (CWG) scam and land and mine allotment scam in Bangalore. There may be rampant corruption and central bodies and government have not been so successful in combating the scams and scamsters (see Parveen's blog http://www.indianscience.in/blogs/114/37/scams-a-surprise-or-a-habit ).
History says the old stories of occurrence. India once the rich in culture, wealth and prosperity (well known designated title "Sone ki Chidiya" meaning Golden Sparrow/Bird ), was looted to its poorest state and now it is again emerging to be so called Golden bird era. The corruption is one set back to that progress. The occurrence of corruption shows the dearth of society, culture, emergence of greed (a downfall on culture evolution). If you see in terms of evolution of society and culture, the corruption is jewel of scars on society as you can find it in any short of activity involving human being.
India is not in a good position when see in the context of corruption over the world. The Transparency international, an independent organization has kept India at nearly middle of the index. Means India is not in fair position in terms of corruption. More details can be found on http://www.transparency.org/ .
It appears that there is no easy way to tackle the corruption until and unless general public / every citizen of India becomes highly aware of impact of corruption and stand against the single incidence of corruption. It is public/citizen of India that only can make it corruption free. (start it from Home, by making every children/family member a responsible citizen and high in moral values).
Central vigilance Commission started a new website where any citizen of India can information about any short of corruption. It is easy to inform about any incidence. Every citizen now can record videos and upload for the information, means public will be more vigilant. The new portal, called VIGEYE, can be accessed at www.cvc.nic.in.
This is corruption in money matters. What about the corruption in intellectual matters (invisible but with bad impact).
I had a big comment on this. But number of words are more So, not succeed in posting entire comment together. I have written it as separate blog "What we can do to make our India again Golden Sparrow".
